Questions Regarding Degree Studies
"I'm very interested in your master's program in Architecture and I would like to receive further information. It will be very kind of you if you could send me the application forms and other necessary materials."
The Master's degree consists of 120 ECTS and takes at least two years of full-time study to complete. Students with a B.Sc. degree in Architecture or Landscape Architecture from the Department of Architecture, may continue with the Master's degree.
The number of study places for students coming from other schools of architecture in Finland or from abroad are limited. Application to master degree studies are to be made online. No application forms or other material are available.
The master level degree curriculum courses are taught mainly in Finnish and studies aim at a professional competence required in Finland . However, it is possible to study and graduate in English, taking into account that the course selection will be more limited.
"My University allows students, who are doing their degree thesis, to go to others Universities to work about their thesis, for some months. Because I am doing my degree thesis, I'd like to spend some months at your University to work"
The Department of Architecture does not have the means to tutor other than its own students in their degree thesis work.
Postgraduate Degree Studies
"I would like to know if you have some post-graduate courses in Architecture that I could follow in English."
" Could you give me further information about other post graduate programmes in the Department of Architecture? How can I apply? How long do these programmes take?"
"I am currently an architect with 3 years of work experience in the United States. I have a 5 year M.Arch first professional degree from an accredited architecture university in the United States. I am interested in supplementing my education with either a post-professional Masters type degree or a post-professional doctorate type degree."
Postgraduate degree studies require a Master of Architecture degree, or a Master of Landscape Architecture degree. A Bachelor Degree in architecture is not sufficient.
Before applying, we require that the applicant has been in contact with a professor, at the Department of Architecture, discussing the research plan. The research has to be interesting also from the Department's point of view.
