The Academic Year at the Aalto University begins 1 August and ends 31 July.

There are two terms, the autumn and the spring term. The autumn term starts in the beginning of September, closing in mid December. The spring term starts mid January, closing mid May. Exact dates vary slightly each year.

The academic year is divided into four teaching periods. Two in the autumn term and two in the spring term. Course and studio instruction is being realized during the periods.
