The General Studies Program (GSP) at the Department of Architecture is a one-year or one term tuition fee based architecture programme for advanced international students of architecture or landscape architecture.

The General Studies Program is a free form combination of optional lecture and studio courses with a special programme part introducing Finnish architectural sights and building practices. The programme consists of English taught master level studies, entitling to a certificate and official credits according to the courses passed, up to 30 ECTS per term / 60 ECTS per year. All GSP studies are officially registered and transferable.

The GSP guest students can take English taught courses from the Department of Architecture degree curriculum according to their educational background, individual needs and personal interest. Available courses cover all chairs at the Department. The lecture and studio courses offer theoretical and practical lectures, discussive seminars and individually tutored studios, consisting of design and planning projects and practical workshops in the fields of architecture, urban planning and design.

The GSP programme offers excursions and special events, visits to interesting sights and current exhibitions, organized meetings with top architects and other professionals. The programme focuses on developing an awareness of various aspects of architecture and its related fields. The Departments' lecture halls and drawing rooms and spacious workshops are at the student's disposal. The library is a well equipped information centre, the photographic studio as well as the computing rooms are available.

The prerequisite for the General Studies Program is a Bachelor of Architecture degree or at least three years of architectural studies at a recognized school of architecture. Students can apply to the GSP programme as paying guest students.
